They Were Selected In 1965, But Not Until 1966

In 1985 David Fishof promoting the tour called:
Happy Together Tour included Hermans Hermits,
Gary Puckett And The Union Gap Band, which it's
also true,The Grass Roots were part of this tour.
Now David Fishof was a man with guts,to go all
the way to Manhattan New York,to ask Peter if he
be willing to be part of The Monkees Twentieth
Anniversary Reunion Tour.Peter originally turned
down the idea.However he agreed to see one show
back stage before making his final decision.Peter
was impressed and traveled to see his band mate
in Nottingham England with David Fishoff.When
David Fishof and Peter talked to Micky about it,
Micky was reluctant at first,since his profession,
as a television and video director in England,was
successful.He was unsure of any interest of seeing
The Monkees in concert.
David Fishof and Peter went to see Davy Jones
who was taking care of his horses and starring in
Godspell in London.Fishof persisted and then both

Davy Jones and Micky Dolenz had agreed to have
the reunion.Michael Nesmith wanted to be at the
reunion,however he had this major problem that
he had to address.He had been producing this film
Square Dance,so he wasn't able to come,but he had
voice genuine support of the reunion,and desired to
play when had time allowed to play with the band
The Monkees.Michael Nesmith said:"I Support the
trio."to Philadelphia Daily News" He's behind us
all the way."
The Monkees albums showed in record stores in
1985.I should know I bought many in 1985,which
were both Arista and Rhino Records from Spirit
Records and Tapes in Rancho Cordova California.
David Fishof asked permission from Columbia
Pictures to use The Monkees name.He recieved the
right to lease The Monkees name for $3,500.00.
David Fishof was wondering how he was going to
promote The Monkees?Early 1986 MTV agreed to
cross promote The Monkees.The MTV promotion
had started February 23,1986 on the weekend.It
resulteded in and astounding results for MTV.
The Monkees Marathon had amazing results.Just
listen as the MTV General Manager talks:"We've
never recieved this volumn of mail.We were dumb-
founded by the whole thing."The Storm was just
perfect to Ignite The Monkees.Nine of the original
albums of The Monkees were released by Rhino-
Records plus two new ones Monkee Flips,and also
Monkee Business which is a valuable picture disc.

The Monkees were the biggest grossing sales of
the year.It started in booking small amphitheatres
for six weeks.After MTV heavy promotion,new
generation of fans were born and a demand for
ticket sales sky rocketed out of control.They had
to use large arenas and stadiums.

Was Not Able To Make It. He Sent A Funny

A Press Conference Was Called On May 28,1986
At The Hard Rock Cafe In New York City.It Was
Announced A 100-Plus City Tour.Two Weeks Of
Rehearsals At Catskill Mountains Resort In The
State Of New York.The Tour Would Kick Off On
May 30,1986 At Atlantic City In New Jersey.
Many want the true facts as why you never heard
Davy Jones sing :" That Was Then This Is Now".
The truth is fact:Arista gave a offer to Davy Jones,
to sing on this song.Davy Jones was insulted,as to
how much he was going to get paid,so he turned it
down.Both Peter Tork and Micky Dolenz jumped
at the offer,and started out pratice singing the cool
song,without Davy Jones.Davy Jones would not
sing the song in concerts,instead he had Micky and
Peter sing the song:"That Was Then This Is Now",
then he would come back after that song was over.
Davy said,it wasn't the song,but dealed with money,
the offer was too low.Who knows,he might have
changed his mind,if he had known the six weeks
concert, would turn into one that lasted to the end
of the year,for over 100 days.However,in 2011,for
the Forty-Fifth Anniversary Reunion Tour, Davy
Did Sing:"That Was Then This Is Now."

Then May 30,1986 Atlantic City,New Jersey
the tour started.There were three opening acts:
Hermans Hermits,The Grass Roots and also,
Gary Puckett And The Union Gap Band. The
group,The Monkees,had a eight- piece backing
band,with horn section,providing support for
The Monkees.Peter played rhythm,lead guitar,
and banjo.Micky had a stand-up electric drum
kit at the front of the stage.Davy played many
percussion music instruments.Micky did play
guitar on Pleasant Valley Sunday at most of
the shows.
  "That Was Then This Is Now,"released by
Arista Went Platinum during the tour.A real
video of "That Was Then This Is Now"was
filled at the Great Arena in Jacksonville in
New Jersey on July 25,1986.The video then
received heavy air play on MTV catapulting
it to number #20 on the Billboard Charts.
MTV then airs The Monkees twice a day for
a week.By April they were on three times a
day.Micky and Peter acted as guest VJ's on
MTV in early May.Then another marathon
was in June.
On June 22,1986 Michael Nesmith disguised
himself at Arlington Stadium,Arlington,Texas
tour date of The Monkees.You'll notice that it
is copper.Michael said:"I thought they did a
great job."He said this to a Texas newspaper.
Michael then says:"As a matter of fact,I called
Micky the next day and told him,I thought it
was sensational."
During the summer 1986-1987 syndication of
The Monkees in the United States by all of the
television stations was happening.When this
cool video of:" That Was Then This Is Now,"
debuted on MTV in early August, then there
was Monkeemania,that skyrocketed out of
control.Monkeemania was like a Tornado.
The Monkees performed at the 1986 MTV
Video Music Awards with backing band.
More tour dates being added for fall.
MTV brought The Monkees,Davy,Micky,
and Peter to host another extended airing
of The Monkees for October.
The presence of The Monkees on MTV,
and the success of the single,with the cool
popularity of the tour,caused seven of the
nine albums to hit the Billboard Chart,all
with the Then And Now Of The Monkees
Collection.By the end of the 1986 year,
Rhino Records sold over two million cool
dollars in The Monkees back catalogue.

The Monkees were playing at the Greek
Theatre in Los Angeles.Well Spill Your
Guts! They did their numbers,to the songs.
They went through show doing a great
job.When they get ready for the final set.
Michael walk slowly out on to the stage and
toward the other Monkees,then all four hug
at the center stage while the crowd wildly
cheer seeing at four of The Monkees back
together.Encore with Michael is his compose

the final two tours were December 1,1986 at
the Civic Center Arena,Charelston,WV and
December 3,1986 StablerArena,Betheham,PA

At the 1987 Heart And Soul Concert Tours
and mail order by Rhino Records.The album
was issued as Live! on CD and could be bought
at merchandise booths during the 1996 tour.
